Payments Specialist - London, UK

The Payments Specialist will report to the UK Managing Director of this established FinTech provider of payments and card solutions with an international footprint.

 The Payments Specialist will be expected to develop and implement new technologies for the EBANX European business and synchronise these with existing systems and processes provided through the head office Latin American (LATAM) business.

Operational responsibilities will be split between payments processing, fraud prevention/detection, client on-boarding and management systems/controls.

A detailed knowledge of Latin American banking and payment processes is required as is fluency in both English and Portuguese languages. A working knowledge of Spanish is also highly desirable.

 5+ years working within the payments or cards industries is a requirement. Experience working within a regulated FS environment is highly desirable.


Besides conquering the world, your activities will be:

 Analysis & Process:

  • Develop the flow of payments from EBANX UK to LATAM.
  • Develop and improve existing internal processes so they are streamlined and automated where possible.
  • Adjust existing processes to ensure that they meet local regulatory requirements and needs.
  • At all times to ensure that ad hoc and proactive analysis and investigations into optimisations and enhancements are carried out to drive down costs and improve the client experience.
  • Ability to provide support and documentation for accounting, internal and external auditing and bank account reconciliations,
  • Further development and implementation of financial processes.
  • Introduce new technologies to the EBANX product team and look to deploy these to the clients.
  • Data analysis to understand the payments ecosystem, suggesting improvements and enhancements.
  • Manage concurrent projects of all sizes from bug fixes to new integrations.
  • Develop and deploy fraud prevention strategy in conjunction with the MLRO.


Growth and Development:

  • Consult with EBANX merchants/clients to design and deploy comprehensive payment processing strategies and identify fraud control improvements.
  • Relationship management with internal stakeholders as well as external (merchants, fraud solution providers, acquirers).
  • Coordinate and liaise with external partners and internal stakeholders to deliver new projects and improve internal processes.
  • Work with EBANX implementation, development and product team for new and improved products.
  • Perform on-site training for clients and other stakeholders.
  • Commercial understanding of costs in building business cases and maintaining project viability.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal departments including sales and technical development.


What is mandatory to work in this position?

  • BA or BSc in Business Administration plus 5+ years experience in a payment specific role
  • Knowledge of Latin American payment processes such as Boleto Bancario, OXXO etc.
  • Proven team player with experience of working with different cultures and across distance
  • Able to handle large data sets
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and spoken)


What else would we like to see?

  • In-depth understanding of Latin American payment processing environments
  • Detailed understanding of payment and card processing environments internationally
  • Knowledge to include chargeback rules and regulations, authorization, settlement, clearing, issuing, acquiring, schemes, interchange, pricing/billing, and fraud mitigation strategies both domestically and globally
  • Previous experience working both at a merchant and a PSP is a big plus
  • Up to date knowledge of payment technologies is required
  • Independent, critical thinker with strong planning skills, adept at quickly grasping and applying new technical concepts
  • Excellent communication, presentation and time management skills
